About BOTA
The British Orthopaedic Trainees Association (BOTA) is a professional membership organisation that brings together trainee orthopaedic surgeons from across the UK. Since its inception in 1987 with only 45 members, BOTA has grown to include over 1000 Specialist Registrars and recently appointed consultants. BOTA is passionate about promoting excellence in orthopaedic surgery through education, research, and collaboration with other organisations.
Planning the 2022 BOTA Congress
We were honoured to have the opportunity to host the annual BOTA Congress on MedAll. BOTA had big ambitions for their event, and we were excited to help them achieve their goal of hosting a world-class Congress that would be accessible to everyone, no matter how they chose to participate. Together, we were committed to making sure that all delegates - whether in person, virtual, or watching on-demand - had a seamless experience.
Why BOTA choose MedAll
BOTA had been working closely with MedAll for several months leading up to their Congress in November 2022, having previously utilised our platform for their ‘Sustainability in Orthopaedic Surgery Virtual Conference’ in June of that year.
One of the key reasons why BOTA chose to partner with MedAll was due to our shared commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare. As part of this shared mission, BOTA utilised MedAll's ticketing system to offer Fair Medical Education tickets to those joining from Low and Middle Income Countries. This allowed them to make their event accessible to a broader audience, championing equitable access to high-quality medical education.
Another reason why BOTA chose to work with MedAll was to streamline their administrative processes. By using a single platform to run their event, BOTA was able to take advantage of all of MedAll's features, including ticketing and registration, automated certificates, digital poster halls, breakout sessions, and recordings. This allowed the BOTA team to focus on delivering an exceptional event experience for their attendees, rather than spending excess time on administrative tasks.
Congress Success
BOTA hosted an incredible event, with 337 delegates joining from across the globe. Of the total attendees, 60 healthcare professionals accessed the event through Fair Medical Education tickets, joining from as far away as Nigeria and India. This is a significant demonstration of BOTA's commitment to inclusivity and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate in their events.
The Congress also featured 115 digital posters, showcasing the latest cutting-edge research and innovation happening in the field of orthopaedic surgery. In addition, the event had the support of 14 fantastic sponsors, 40 expert speakers, and the BOTA team ran a whole host of engaging breakout sessions and pre-conference courses.
Overall, it was a successful Congress, and a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at BOTA. We were honoured to be a part of it and we look forward to continuing to support and work alongside the team at BOTA.
What the BOTA Team said about using MedAll
I am thrilled to say that our recent event, powered by MedAll's innovative platform, was a huge success in achieving our goal of reaching a global audience. The features of the platform allowed us to create an immersive and interactive experience that engaged attendees from around the world. The ease of use and accessibility of the platform made it simple for attendees to engage, learn, and collaborate. This event has proven that with the right tools and technology, we can continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in medical education and bring our community together regardless of geographic barriers.
