About BAPS
The British Association of Paediatric Surgeons (BAPS), is an organisation dedicated to the advancement of the surgical care of children. With a membership of over 400 consultant paediatric surgeons, trainees, and affiliated health professionals, BAPS plays a leading role in promoting research, education, and training in the field of paediatric surgery. They are an extremely active organisation, hosting a wide range of events including annual scientific meetings and educational courses as well as providing resources for patients and their families.
Planning the BAPS 68th Congress 2022
We were honoured to support BAPS as they hosted their highly anticipated 68th Annual International Congress from 13th-15th July 2022. BAPS were familiar with MedAll, having worked with us to run their 67th Annual International Congress in 2021. However, this was the first time BAPS were hosting a hybrid event, using our ticketing system to offer both in-person and online options, allowing delegates from around the world to participate in the Congress. Additionally, BAPS were one of the first organisations to adopt our Abstract Submissions tool, which enabled them to efficiently collect and review abstracts in preparation for their Congress.
Why BAPS choose MedAll
BAPS made a strategic decision to partner with MedAll in 2021, recognising the potential for transformative change in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. As an innovative organisation, BAPS proactively sought ways to improve its operations and embrace new technologies that facilitate better healthcare delivery. This forward-thinking mindset has allowed them to educate and connect with colleagues worldwide.
BAPS also recognised that not everyone can participate in in-person events due to various constraints, such as location, working patterns, or family commitments. In using MedAll, BAPS were able to offer a variety of ticket types to cater for diverse needs, providing an inclusive way for all delegates to participate and engage.
BAPS Congress Success
BAPS' recent Congress was an impressive display of their commitment to innovation and excellence. The event brought together 268 delegates from around the world, including virtual attendees who joined from Egypt, India, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia, Sri Lanka and many more locations across the globe.
BAPS embraced our platform's features, including abstract submission, which resulted in 73 posters in the digital poster hall and 98 oral presentations. In addition, the team ran multiple breakout sessions alongside the main stage, featuring both virtual and in-person speakers. Plus, they successfully utilised the live chat functionality, to facilitate a balanced and engaging discussion between all attendees, allowing questions to be submitted from everyone and moderated by the speakers.
We are proud to have worked with the amazing team at BAPS as their commitment to accessible education and innovation was apparent throughout their Congress. We look forward to continuing our partnership and supporting them in their future endeavours.
What the BAPS Team said about using MedAll
"We are proud to have partnered with MedAll to deliver a truly remarkable hybrid event that exceeded all expectations. With the use of their platform, and the assistance of their team, we were able to create a flexible and inclusive experience that catered to the needs of all our delegates, whether they were attending in person or online. This collaboration has demonstrated that with the right approach and tools, we can continue to bring people together and deliver high-quality medical events that advance our shared goals of improving patient care and outcomes." — Mr. Ashish Desai, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon and BAPS Honorary Secretary
What delegates said about BAPS
“The dual in person/online format worked very well. I think being able to watch online allowed people to watch lot more but still relax by allowing them to be flexible with attendance”
“The hybrid format is important, please keep that as long as feasible. Overseas attendees would benefit much from it, and for some who cannot attend in person, it may be the only/best way to remain up-to-date.”
